Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine is one of the oldest, continually practiced medicines we have today. It uses different parts of plants such as roots, stems, leaves and flowers, as well as mushrooms, minerals and shells. In some cases, even insects!

A formula is selected for the individual patient, consisting of a combination of herbs. The herbs can come in a variety of forms such as raw, powdered, tinctures, capsules and pills.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is an ancient technique to apply heat to an area of the body, by burning moxa. Moxa comes from the herb mugwort or artemisia vulgaris, and it is used to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of qi, and maintain general health. It is commonly used to increase the body's energy, boost the immune system, relieve pain and menstrual cramps.

Cupping

Cupping is a technique, used by many cultures, in which a special cup is applied to the skin and held in place by suction. Cupping brings blood to the area and helps improve circulation. The cups can be left in one place or slide along the back, for 5–10 minutes. It is commonly used to relieve pain as well as treat respiratory conditions.
